Saving Little Hearts and Mended Little Hearts: These two organizations have very different and important functions. SLH began right here in Knoxville and has expanded nationally. Its primary function now is to provide "care packages" to families whose children are undergoing heart surgery or are hospitalized with cardiac conditions. MLH is a national organization with a new chapter in Knoxville. Its support function is realized as families with heart conditions share triumphs and disappointments together, learn from each other, and build each other up in the setting of meetings and other get-togethers.
