East Tennessee Children's Hospital: "Children's" has fully functional Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in addition to its standard inpatient wards. We rely on their full range of subspecialists to help manage feeding issues, breathing issues, and other concerns that may be present in children with heart disease. Visit website.
University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville: Dr. John Mack is a seasoned and talented cardiac surgeon at "UT" who performs some congenital repairs with very good outcomes. Following surgery, patients recover in the Pediatric ICU. UT also has a top notch Neonatal ICU to care for newborn infants with cardiac conditions. The UT Adult Congenital Heart Program is currently being developed, with input from our practice (redirect to Cardiac Conditions Treated and Office Based services), adult cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nurses, social workers, and perinatalogists (high risk obstetricians.) St. Mary's Medical Center: St Mary's Neonatal ICU is staffed by the team from UT. Some infants with cardiac conditions are cared for at this north Knoxville facility. Visit website.
Vanderbilt Pediatric Heart Institute We are fortunate to have the Vanderbilt Pediatric Heart Institute, a nationally recognized pediatric cardiac center, located in Nashville, only 3 hours west of us. "Vandy" provides a full spectrum of cardiac care. Services include interventional cardiology (closure of septal defects (holes), widening of valves and vessels, etc.), electrophysiology procedures (to cure various heart rhythm abnormalities with a one day procedure), cardiac transplantation, and cardiac surgery. Drs. Christian, Mettler and Bichell are thoughtful, kind, and skilled surgeons who operate on nearly every type of heart defect, each with his (Drs.
